Monique Dews is an experienced radio broadcaster and media executive who has worked at the highest levels of Australian radio news for more than 30 years.

Monique has extensive media contacts and understands how to manage the media and navigate complex and sensitive challenges to support clients to connect with their target audiences, protect their reputations in times of crisis, and become confident spokespeople in the media.

As a passionate born and bred Queenslander, Monique is supporting clients and taking the lead on opportunities ahead of the Brisbane Olympics in 2032 and as Queensland transitions to a renewable energy future.

Monique managed radio newsrooms around Australia and as a popular newsreader on Brisbane Breakfast Radio for 11 years, she knows and understands the media landscape to help clients define, maximise, and communicate their messaging in a fast paced and ever changing world.

Monique was a National News Director who established and managed national news feeds and news staff in five capital cities and 46 regional locations around the country. She knows how to geo-target public relations campaigns, based on listener/viewer locations and demographics.

Monique’s unique breakfast radio experience means she is quick to respond in crisis management situations and can maximise publicity opportunities around the daily news cycle to position clients as thought leaders and experts who can offer insight and perspective on complex issues.

She understands the pressure of managing those dynamic “live media” situations and can advise clients on how to streamline their messaging to connect with an audience for maximum impact.

Proven experience

Monique’s extensive radio career was built around managing news agendas and responding to breaking news around the country for Australia’s three major radio networks, Southern Cross Austereo, Nova Entertainment, and the Australian Radio Network.

She understands the pressure of breaking news and as an award-winning journalist has reported on 30 years of news events in Australia and around the world from the 9/11 terror attacks, war outbreaks, pandemics, and natural disasters to national, state, and local politics, crime stories, celebrity scandals, and entertainment news.

Monique also knows how to produce and present Podcasts that have impact and as a Media Ambassador for the Cancer Council’s “Biggest Morning Tea” knows how to plan PR campaigns to leverage as much media coverage as possible.

Media Training

Monique is a media veteran who provides speciality coaching on effective communication, presentation skills, and how to answer questions with confidence.

She knows how to teach you to be “media ready” and to be a clear and concise spokesperson having trained media professionals on news reading skills. She was also a guest trainer in news reading for students at AFTRS (The Australian Film Television and Radio School) as well as for journalists at Fox Sports.

Monique also recently worked with Sheikh Sana Al Maktoum of the Dubai Royal Family to help craft the messaging for her debut jewellery range, write press releases and contribute ideas to the launch strategy of the brand.  She also coached Her Highness in communication skills for print interviews and media events across the UAE.

Monique understands the pressures of breaking news and how critical time is in times of crisis.

In crisis management and issues management, she knows how to comprehend and understand vital information quickly, how to respond as news stories develop, and remains calm when advising clients on how to protect their brands and reputations in high-pressure situations.

Over her 30-year media career, Monique has developed an extensive network of media contacts including editors, producers, journalists, and news directors to help you connect with the media.

She has also developed strong media relations with a range of authorities and key stakeholders across politics, business, and industry to help provide an important link between the boardroom and newsrooms.
